Chiang Mai Day I
As usual I made it on the train in the last minute. Not the best idea to run through Bangkok with a totally insane humidity. Still, I made it!
In the train I met a German couple, unfortunately we had so much to tell that we ended up staying awake till everyone was long asleep! One more funny factor was the on board-shopping woman, being constantly racist against Chinese (one joneses girl was sitting just 2 meters away whilst her speech) and trying to sell shitty breakfast to us.
The route through the mountains was still amazing, but the train was all in all two hours late…
Arriving in Chang mai we took a taxi to our hostels and I discovered „Kicki’s Homebase“. It didn’t take long to realise that the owner is a German, moving to Thailand for his Thai-wife. Didn’t know that it works the other way around too, but cool cool!
The hostel was still amazing! They were overbooked, but I got the choice to sleep on the roof in a bamboo-like bed! You could really have a look all over Chang mai from there.. And the best part: I got it for 60 (usually 80) baht ~ 1,50€! In the evening I went around the town, visiting the night market and other things… Basically Chang mai seems to be a big city (second biggest in Thailand), but it was still chilled out and really typical Thai-like.
Coming back I had a goodnight beer with some other guys from the hostel and went to bed early to be ready for the elephant ride/trekking tour tomorrow!
